Distribution Known from three estuaries in Chile (Southeast Pacific), from fresh and brackish water: 1) small freshwater lacustrine tributary of Bío-Bío River, near its mouth; 2) mixo-oligohaline zone of Lingue estuary; 3) Queule estuary. [details]
Etymology The specific epithet gualpensis refers to the type locality of the species, named by Jeldes (1963: 3) as ''Fundo Guálpen'' (= Huálpen, Chile). [details]
Habitat Freshwater creeks and in the mixo-oligohaline zone of marine estuaries, in muddy sediments, at shallow water. [details]
Type locality Huálpen (= Fundo Guálpen), northern shore of Bío-Bío River, small freshwater creek in the western side of a natural concourse, Concepción, Chile (gazetteer estimate -38.803º, -73.164º), muddy creek-bed. [details]
