Etymology The specific epithet longilineus ('elongate line') is composed by the Latin prefix longi-, from longus and meaning 'long', and the Latin word lineus, for 'line', and refers to the length of the studied specimen, which is stated to be the longest of all species of the genera belonging to the family Capitellidae ("Como o exemplar estudado tem o comprimento relativamente maior, quando comparado com as demais espécies dos gêneros da família, recebeu o nome de longilineus"; Amaral, 1980: 103).
