Etymology authors: "amoyanus, refers to the type locality of Amoy, the pronunciation of local dialect of Xiamen, a coastal city in Fujian Province, China." However, Travisia genus is feminine, so the epithet spelling, if it is intended as an adjective as is usual, should probably be 'amoyana' [details]
Spelling Travisia is feminine, or more precisely has long been treated as feminine, so the epithet should be 'amoyana', not 'amoyanus'. There is no indication from the authors explaining their usage. As a comparison there is a nematode named Tripyloides amoyanus Fu, Zeng, Zhou, Tan & Cai, 2018 named after the same location, but this is correct formulation because Tripyloides is a masculine genus. The ending of Travisia amoyanus has been retained unaltered in WoRMS for now, but future usage in literature should be changed to 'amoyana' [details]
