Etymology authors: "specific name pseudocomatus means ‘false’ comatus, because it was confused with the emended Thelepus comatus." However, for gender agreement with Streblosoma, the name should be 'pseudocomatum',  [details]

Grammatical gender The epithets in Streblosoma comatus and S. pseudocomatus are probably incorrect for gender agreement as Streblosoma is probably a neuter noun, and comatus a um is an adjective meaning having long hair. Grube originally had feminine 'comata' in agreement with Terebella, and it was changed to 'comatus' in agreement with masculine Thelepus [details]
