Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet of the replacement name posthamata is composed by the Latin prefix post-, meaning 'after', and the Latin adjective hamata, meaning 'hooked' or 'crooked'. It refers presumably to the fact that the new name replaces the specific epithet of the junior homonym Polydora hamata Langerhans, 1880, described after its senior homonym Polydora hamata Webster, 1879.
