Taxonomic remark The Dissonidae has been widely attributed to Yamaguti (1963) (e.g. Kabata, 1965; Pillai, 1985; Boxshall & Halsey, 2004); however, Kurtz (1924) proposed the Dissoninae as a new subfamily of the Caligidae. As the first to accord family-group status to this taxon, ‘Kurtz, 1924’ is the correct authority for the family name. [details]
