Etymology The specific epithet confusa, feminine of the Latin word confusus, meaning 'mixed' or 'united', refers to the fusion of the prostomium with the peristomium or buccal segment. [details]
Habitat Fine sand, in shallow water. [details]
New combination The genus Spermosyllis is considered as a junior synonym of Exogone. However, apparently Spermosyllis confusa was never published as a new combination in this genus, for which reason it is here maintained under the original combination, as a Spermosyllis. [details]
