He declared the latter a nomen protectum but did not fulfill the conditions of ICZN (1999) Article 23.9.1. Bieler & Mikkelsen (2025: 4) provided formal evidence and declared Modiolus americanus Leach, 1815 a nomen protectum and Musculus papuanus Röding, 1798 a nomen oblitum. [details]
