Nomenclature "Emeidae Diesing, 1862 [originally Emeidea (Diesing 1862: 202)] is a senior synonym of Prostomatidae Bürger, 1904a whenever the type genus Emea Leidy, 1850 [type species: Emea rubra Leidy, 1850, by monotypy (Leidy 1850: 125); synonymized with Prostoma Dugès, 1828 by Bürger (1904a: 53)] is regarded as
confamilial with Prostoma Dugès, 1828. Prostomatidae Bürger, 1904a was regarded as a valid taxon in Chernyshev (2005a: S29); however, the name does not seem to have been used to such an extent that Article 23.9 of the Code
(ICZN 1999) (reversal of precedence) is applied. Emeidae Diesing, 1862 thus competes for precedence with Prostomatidae Bürger, 1904a" (Kajihara 2021: 172). [details]
