Bertolino et al. (2023) considered Cladocroce burapha Putchacarn et al., 2004 to be a valid species after reexamination of its type material. The species' paratype (ZMA 17921) though, was transferred to C. pansinii Bertolino & Calcinai, 2023. Subsequently, Bispo et al. (2026) considered the holotype of C. burapha to belong in Haliclona (Reniera) turquoisia (de Laubenfels, 1954) instead, thus rendering the former species unaccepted.
