Taxonomic status: Costa et al (2008) made H. picta a subjective synonym of H. splendida. This was not based on type material, apparently missing for both names. However, this act must be disregarded as Costa et al (2008) is not a published work sensu ICZN (1999, 4th ed) Art.8.6 & Art. 9 as the journal Biociências is electronic only in 2008.
