Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorEditor's comment Abyssocapitella commensalis was described as being a commensal of the pogonophore Spirobrachia leospira Gureeva, 1975. It was also pointed that their interrelationship could be of a parasitoid-host nature (some food lumps of the capitellid included pogonophoran setae). The species was found living inside tubes of the pogonophore, but with the exception of two specimens which cohabited with the hosts, all the other specimens were found in empty middle fragments of tubes of Spirobrachia leospira. This way, it seems that A. commensalis is using the empty tube fragments for protection more than being a commensal with the pogonophore. Probably the two registered cases of coexistence between the two species in the same tube are accidental. [João Gil, 2013-10-03].  [details]
