Diagnosis Original diagnosis by Imajima & Hartman (1964: 128): "The body is depressed; the dorsum lacks a zebra-striped pattern. The prostomium is quadrate; palpi are greatly reduced and not visible in dorsal view. The pharynx has a trepan with 10 teeth and lacks a subterminal middorsal tooth. Dorsal cirri have a long cirrophore. Setae are unidentate." [details]Type designation There seems to exist some confusion in the bibliography concerning the type species of the subgenus and its way of designation. The type species is Trypanosyllis asterobia Okada, 1933, by original designation: "Trypanosyllis (Trypanobia), new subgenus / Type T. (Trypanobia) asterobia Okada, 1933" (Imajima & Hartman, 1964: 128). [details]
