Description Length: 45-48 cm. Plumage: dark brown above heavily streaked with black; dull brown heavily streaked black on mantle, head and breast; lower breast and belly white. Breeding adult white with pale buff wash on back foreneck and breast or snow white. Immature like non-breeding adult. Bare parts: iris yellow.; lores yellow, greenish in breeding birds; bill greenish grey to dark horn with a black tip, blue in breeding birds; feet and legs greenish yellow (rose pink when breeding). Habitat: marine reefs at low tide; wooded bodies of water inland. <388><393><391> [details]
