Distribution Known in Japan, South Korea, China and Vietnam. In Japan, this species is restricted to the Pacific coast of central to western Honshū between Bōsō and Kii peninsulas, the Seto Inland Sea, Fukui Prefecture on the Japan Sea coast of central Honshū, and the western coast of Kyūshū (Figure 28). The southernmost record in Japan is Amami-ōshima Id., Kagoshima Prefecture. Korea: A left valve from Busan, Haeundae Beach, and a complete specimen from Ulsan are identifiable with S. beni. Chinese records are from Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and Hainan provinces, the Qiongzhou Strait and Taiwan.  [details]
