Remark: The conspecificity of Bangia fuscopurpurea (marine) and B. Atropurpurea (freshwater) was proposed by den Hartog (1972: 274--276) and Geesink (1973: 245). Bangia versicolor is included as a synonym on the authority of Pankow (1971: 217--218). Although Roth (1806) accredited Conferva atropurpurea to Mertens in the explanation of pl. VI, in the text he stated that the specimen was sent by Mertens as Conferva castanea (apparently a manuscript name). [details] | ||||||||||||||||
