Notes  Homonymy: Demonax Kinberg, 1867 is a junior homonym (Leiper 1908, Neave 1939 Volume 2, pg. 34) to Demonax Thomson, 1860, a genus of Coleoptera. Parasabella Bush, 1905 is the next available synonym (Tovar-Hernández & Harris 2010) [details]

Type designation: On p.186,191 Bush (1905) comments on Demonax, and (p.191) designates the first listed species D. krusensterni as type. Johansson (1925:26, 1927:136) re-examined Kinberg's Demonax types and included four species, questionably including D. krusensterni, under D. leucaspis. Perkins (1984) analysed the history and continued this status, while pointing out Hartman's (1959) listing of D. leucaspis as type is incorrect. [details]
