The following account of the brackish-water polycheetes from the lakes on the southern coast of the Japan Sea is based upon a collection made by Dr. D. Miyadi of the Otsu Hydrobiological Station, who kindly forwarded the material to the writer for identification. Excepting the common littoral form Nereis japonica Izuka, no representative of other genera, Prionospio and Notomastus, has yet been recorded from brackish-water, and moreover the species belonging to Prionospio seems to the writer to be new to science.
