Status Although Ancistria is an unusable homonym and regarded as a synonym of Heteromastus the question of the assignment of A. minima must be considered. The original description has no figures. There is no type material listed at the MNHN, Paris. Hutchings & Rainer, 1982 regarded the species as indeterminable, but others have probably considered it a junior synonym of Heteromastus filiformis, originally described as Capitella filiformis Claparede, 1864 [details]
