Taxonomic remark Although objective analysis is lacking, Hareocephalus is accepted as a valid taxon that, based in part on the morphology of the haptor hooks, anchors, and bars of Hareocephalus thaisae, likely shares a common ancestry with other genera containing dactylogyrids infecting marine beloniform fishes.
