Authority Powell (1964) attributed the name Turris castanella to Tinker (1952: 164, pl. 47) who illustrated a "Turris species" and commented that it "appears in some collections Under the name of Turris castanella [the latter apparently a MS name by Dall]. Tinker's work does not make available the name castanella, which should be attributed to Powell (1964).
1967, said that Tinker’s use of Dall’s manuscript name did not validate the name and further said
that this name should date from Powell, 1964.
