Etymology Species named after Karl Fiedler (1863-1894), Swiss zoologist: "die Abtrennung als eigene Spezies, die ich dem leider allzu früh verstorbenen, talentvollen Zoologen, Dr Karl Fiedler von Zürich, widmen mochte, berechtifft erscheinen dürfte" (Bretscher, 1896: 501). [details]
Habitat Freshwater, described as frequent in peat ponds. [details]
Status Van der Land (1971: 688) listed the species under the species inquirendae, stating "This species has characters in common with both Aeolosoma hyalinum (length, pointed prostomium, long hair setae) and Aeolosoma niveum (setae of equal length). It is undoubtedly identical with one of these species, but the original description is insufficiently detailed to permit a definite conclusion." [details]
