Diagnosis Colonial, massive, encrusting, meandroid, hydnophoroid. Budding intracalicular. Collines present, tholiform and tectiform. Columella lamellar, irregularly trabecular, or absent. Costosepta compact, finely granulated or smooth. Dissepiments long, tabulate, abundant. Short vesicular dissepiments in the vicinity of wall present or absent. Exotheca absent. Synapticulae absent. Ambulacra present or absent. Septal trabeculae simple and branching, 35-150 µm in size. Wall is septothecal and parathecal. [details]

Remark Eguchi (1942) created the family Eugyridae. Later, he realized that De Fromentel (1861, p. 60) had already established this family (“Famille---Engyriens [sic!]), and provided the corrected and Latinized name (Eguchi, 1951, p. 54). [details]
