Taxonomy Re-established subfamily. Created by Rioja to include Serpulidae with pinnules on the operculum stalk. He included genera Filograna, Salmacina, Apomatus, and Protula (Salmacina and Protula lack opercula). Fauchald (1977) included Filograna and Salmacina, and also Filogranula, Salmacinopsis and Spirodiscus. Molecular data of Kupriyanova et al (2006) grouped Salmacina and Filograna, but in wider view no justification for a distinct Filograninae clade existed. Subsequently Kupriyanova, ten Hove & Rouse, 2023 re-established Filograninae, based on molecular and morphological analysis, supported by presence of abdominal flat geniculate chaetae. [details]
