Streblosoma hartmanae, a new species of thelepinid terebellid polychaete from the intertidal and shallow sublittoral shoal-grass and turtle-grass beds in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico, is described. The description is based on studies of living and preserved specimens. The unreliability of characters subject to variation caused by the circumstances of preservation is discussed. Feeding, egestion, and tube building are described. Benthic macrofaunal species which have been shown to be significantly associated with the new species are listed.
