Biology Type of larval development: direct (non planktotrophic) denoted by paucispiral protoconch. [details]Diagnosis Shell 1.8-2.1 mm high, with protoconch of 1.3 to 1.5 whorls and teleoconch of 2.75 to 3 whorls. Protoconch covered by minute spiral threads hardly appreciable under the optical microscope, teleoconch with a sculpture of narrow, widely separated axial ribs, crowded spiral threads and distinct spiral cords restricted to the abapical area. Outer lip with a thin edge somewhat flaring but hardly thickened externally, not overrun by the spirals; smooth inside. Inner lip thin, overhanging a distinct umbilical chink. Shell white, translucent.
This species is easily distinguished from A. adiaphoros Bouchet & Warén, 1993 by having minute spiral threads instead of granules on the protoconch, narrower, a more fragile shell with spiral threads on the adapical part of the body whorl and an outer lip expanded outwards rather than thickened.
