Status Long considered to be a junior synonym of Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis (see Mortensen 1943), but later re-assigned to the synonymy of Strongylocentrotus pallidus by Jensen (1974: 119). Reason for the differing statement is that Mortensen considered pallidus (and all its synonyms) as identical with droebachiensis. [details]
