Additional Material A manuscript name for a vatiety of this species, var. levis Lendenfeld, 1887 with 'holotype' number AM G8976 has cropped up while working on the WPD, but no publication could be found in which this combination occurs. Dr Stephen Keable of the Australian Museum assured us that the specimen AM G8976 is labeled as Siphonochalina laxa, syntype. There is also a microscope slide, both registered now as junior synonym of Callyspongia truncata. [details]
