Distribution Carter (1873c) also records this from the seas around the Seychelles. [details]New combination Ridley (1884) described a large leaf-shaped lithistid from Mauritius under the name Corallistes parasitica (Carter, 1873, originally as Arabescula parasitica). Pisera & Lévi (2002) stated that Ridley's transfer of Arabescula parasitica to Corallistes is incorrect and thus that Ridley's identification is a misapplication. Moreover, Ridley's description is not likely to concern a specimen of Corallistes, but presumably a specimen of Microscleroderma. Until the specimen has been re-examined we maintain Ridley's specimen as a 'taxon inquirendum'. See also Corallistes parasitica (Carter, 1873) sensu Ridely, 1884. [details]
