Synonymy Assumed to be Chaetaster longipes (Retzius, 1805)(Chaetasteridae) by Doderlein (1917), making Astropus a synonym of Chaetaster. However, A.M. Clark 1989: 272 indicates that from descirption and type locality Mauritius, far more like to be conspecific with Archaster mauritianus von Martens 1866 and A. lorioli Sukarno & Jangoux 1977 (Archasteridae) [details]
