Editor's comment Though it should await DNA confirmation, in light of Sun and Dong (1998) and Caplins et al (2012) it seems very likely that N. bivittata and N. gracilis are synonyms, with N. bivittata (Delle Chiaje, 1841) having priority for the form in which dorsal stripes do not meet, and N. bullock Coe, 1940 applying to forms in which the stripes do meet anteriorly.
