Taxonomy The NW France populations of Timea crassa (originally as Hymedesmia hallezi var. crassa) in Topsent's original sense are likely to be different from Lévi's (1952) West African populations under the names Timea crassa and Timea hallezi crassa. It is also unclear whether Mediterranean records under these names are conspecific with the northern or with the southern species. [details]
