Nomenclature Van Soest & De Voogd (2015) selected this variety of Pericharax carteri as the typical or nominal variety. According to the ICZN the nominal variety or subsepcies has to be called the same as the nominal species, in this case P. carteri var. carteri. Since the second variety, P. carteri var. homoraphis is not a proper Pericharax, but a Leucetta, the variety P. carteri var. carteri collapses to P. carteri. [details]
