Homonymy De Laubenfels (1936) discovered that Spongia sinuosa sensu Lamarck, 1914, reassigned to Coscinoderma by Topsent (1931), was not conspecific with Spongia sinuosa Pallas, 1766. Both names are primary homonyms, thus he proposed the present replacement name for the junior homonym. [details]
