Diagnosis Hesiospina aurantiaca is identified by the presence of single, distally curved and pointed hooks, situated in the notopodia of median segments only (11–16 to 28–35). "When following the identification literature, it will often be keyed out as Psamathe (or the junior synonym Kefersteinia Quatrefages, 1866), which may be one explanation for rare and absent records ..." [details]
Distribution Widely distributed in cold and warm-temperate and tropical regions. Currently no records from the Indian Ocean, Africa or South America (may be a sampling or identification artefact). [details]
