Authority Some authors consider the authorship of Terebellides anguicomus, as well as of other new taxa described in the same publication, as being ''Müller in Grube'', 1858. However, A.E. Grube only wrote a short introduction to the work, together with four page footnotes, and anywhere in the publication or in the volume it is stated that Grube had co-authored the publication. For this reason the authorship of the species is here considered as being ''Müller, 1858''. [details]
Depth range Shallow waters (5-35 m). [details]
Distribution South Atlantic Ocean: Brazil (from State of Sergipe to State of Santa Catarina). [details]
Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet anguicomus is a Latin adjective meaning 'with snakes for hair', and presumably makes reference to the buccal tentacles, described as being numerous and with the tips widened, lanceolate ("kein die Fühlfäden deckendes Blatt, diese zahlreich, zart mit lanzettlich verbreiterter Spitze"; Müller, 1858: 218). [details]
Habitat On silty and sandy sediments, and coral reefs, at shallow waters. [details]
