Etymology The specific epithet makes reference to the similarity of the species with Pionosyllis weismanni Langerhans, 1879. [details]
Habitat In coarse sand with Clausinella fasciata (da Costa, 1778) and Branchiostoma lanceolatum (Pallas, 1774). [details]
Nomenclature Dauvin & Lee (1983) strangely did use the incorrect epithet formulation of 'prope-weismanni' throughout, as written in the paper title. This is automatically corrected to 'propeweismanni'. The hyphenated spelling is not a synonym. The polychaete is never referred to by the hyphenated spelling. [details]
Type locality France, Brittany, Baie de Morlaix, 1 mile NW Pointe de Primel (geocoordinates not provided but estimated with gazetteer to be lat. 48.726957º, long. -3.842648º). [details]
