Description Quatrefages gives a long description. The specimen was large, 14 centimetres by 7 millimetres, with [in translation] "The denticles, in the buccal region, form a broad band underneath, pronounced on the sides; above, two lateral groups. In addition, on the borders of the same region, there are two isolated, triangular, protruding denticles much stronger than all the others" [details]
Homonymy Nereis robusta Quatrefages, 1866 from New Zealand is an unreplaced junior primary homonym to Nereis robusta Kinberg, 1865 from South America. Hartman (1948 and catalogue 1959) considered Quatrefages' work was published first, but today it is thought that Kinberg's work was available first. [details]
