Etymology The species is named after its collector, Mr. Herbert Mathew Hale (b. Prospect, South Australia, 3 June 1895 - d. 3 September 1963), Director of the South Australian Museum (1928-1960). [details]
Habitat At low tide, from stones in rock pools, and among algal holdfasts and crevice fauna, at shallow water. [details]
Reproduction Eight of 10 examined syntypes with male gametes. Accessory parapodial cirri absent in smaller specimens; one syntype (AHF Poly 844, measuring 4.1 mm in length for 23 setigers) with very short accessory cirri and few falcigers, thought to be in the early stages of epitoky. [details]
Type locality Outer edge of reef at Sellicks Beach, South Australia, Australia (gazetteer estimate -35.339º, 138.443º), at low tide, from stones in rock pools. [details]
