Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet sexoculata derives from the combination of the Latin root sex, meaning 'six', and the Latin word oculatus, meaning 'having eyes', and presumably refers to the presence of six eyes on the prostomium of the species: "Eyes six, circular, lateral, situated at the angles of a hexagon, middle pair largest (Webster & Benedict, 1887: 744).
