Type specimen The holotype material from Menzies Bay, Banks Peninsula, New Zealand, said to be deposited in the Canterbury Museum, Christchurch, is reported lost. Rare, with only two, perhaps three specimens ever collected. Knox had one specimen. Aguado and San Martin (2008:43) redescribed and re-illustrated the species from a single specimen, NIWA 4067 identified by G. Read, collected by NIWA, from New Plymouth. Morton & Miller (1973:177) earlier had illustrated what may have been a further specimen, but is mislabelled as a Pisione in their figure. [details]
