Synonymy Jirkov & Leontovich (2017) state that ""Scionella lornensis is here considered a junior synonym of Amphitrite cristata [currently Pista cristata, type species of Pista]" The evidence offered for this is not clear, but they also state that "As the type species of Pistella (S. lornensis) is a junior synonym of the type species of Pista (Amphitrite cristata), Pistella should be considered a junior synonym of Pista." Conversely a morphological cladistic analysis by Nogueira et al (2013: 226) did not align the two species. Thus the suggested synonymy is recorded here, but not implemented [details]
