Etymology The specific epithet acanthodes is composed by the noun akanthus (Greek), meaning 'thorn', followed by the suffix -odes (Greek), meaning 'like'; acanthodes means 'thorny'. The specific name refers to the presence of spinelike setae in several chaetigers. [details]
