Etymology Not explicitly stated by the author. The specific epithet nigrita is a Latin adjective meaning 'black', and refers obviously to the colour of the species, described as being black on a yellow background: "Color in spiritu fulvidus, in parte segmentorum incrassata nigritus" (Ehlers, 1874: 297), and "gelbem Grunde schwarz gezeichnete Wurm" (Ehlers, 1875: 63).
