Etymology The specific epithet aquila is a Latin noun meaning 'eagle' and refers to the vague resemblance between the profile of the uncini with the silhouette of the head of an eagle: "Je la considère [the species] comme nouvelle et, en raison de la vague ressemblance du profil de ses uncini avec la silhouette d'une tête d'aigle, je la nomme aquila" (Caullery, 1944: 193).
