Depth range 100 m depth (Whatley & Zhao, 1988) [details]
Description Medium, inflated ventrally, rec- tangular in lateral view. Dorsal and ventral margins nearly parallel; anterior cardinal angle distinct; ventral margin obscured by slightly convex ventro-Iateral surface; anterior margin truncate above and rounded below with a row of rodlike denticules; posterior margin subcaudate, particularly in LV, denticulate on posteroventral slope. In dorsal view lateral surface strongly arched and widest posteromedianly. Eye tubercle prominent. Surface coarsely reticulate; fossae deep, most quadrate and regularly disposeg; muri with short spin~like extensions directing towards the centre of fossae; very small conjunctive and laterally directed spines developed on posterior reticulation. A fine ~ut distinct dorsal rib present from just behind eye tubercle to the posterior end of dorsal margin. A spatulate posteroventral spine distinct in the juveniles and obscure in the adult. Hinge holamphidont with in RV stepped anterior tooth. and bulbous posterior tooth. Inner lamella of medium width; avestibulate; radial pore canals about 40 in number, narrow, straight or bifia. Adductor mlJscle scars a row of 4, frontal scar V-shaped. (Whatley & Zhao, 1988) [details]
Diagnosis A species of Lankacythere characterized by coarse reticulation with deep quadrate fossae, the containing muri of which bear short blunt spines giving to the fossae the appearance of maltese crosses. (Whatley & Zhao, 1988) [details]
Dimensions Dimensions Length Height Holotype ARV (1986.269) 0.67 0.40 (Whatley & Zhao, 1988) [details]
Distribution Common at station 23, rare at stations 7, 16 and 22; depth range: 51·100 m; substrate: medium to coarse sand. (Whatley & Zhao, 1988) [details]
Ecology "coarse sand" (Whatley & Zhao, 1988) [details]
Etymology With reference to the elaborate muri of the reticulation. (Whatley & Zhao, 1988) [details]
Remark This species is very close to L. coralloides (Brady, 1886) in overall· morphology, but is more inflated and has quadrate fossae bearing radial spinelike extensions inward from muri. (Whatley & Zhao, 1988) [details]
