Taxonomy Transferred to Amphiura by A.M. Clark (1965), which made it a homonym of Amphiura diastata McClendon, 1909. Pending a revision this name is not valid, but there is no replacement name and it is still unclear, if this is a synonym of another name. Clark originally tentatively suggested that this species may be a synonym of Amphiura koreae, but later (Clark 1970), she expressed doubt about A. koreae belonging in Amphiura, whereas she is definite about A. diastata (Murakami, 1942) belonging in Amphiura. The taxonomic status of A. koreae and A. diastata has not been resolved yet and for now, they are treated as valid species, albeit the combination A. diastata is a junior homonym of Amphiura diastata McClendon, 1909.
