Validity Miers (1880) mentions, in a footnote, Cymothoa micronyx from Mauritius, which he attributes to White having mentioned but not described. Miers goes on to use the name Lironeca micronyx, also without description. White (1947 and 1850) nowhere mentions the species name micronyx in any combination, therefore the name is nomen nudum (as indicated by Trille, 1994). [details]type locality Mauritius [details]
