Editor's comment The status of Webbinella bassensis Parr, 1945 as a foraminifer has been questioned by Collins (1974), who considered it as the sand-grain covered egg capsule of a gastropod. Bell & Burn (1979) identified this gastropod as Hydrobia buccinoides (Quoy & Gaimard), currently referred to as Cryptassiminea buccinoides (Quoy & Gaimard, 1834) (= Paludina buccinoides Quoy & Gaimard, 1834). [details]
