Issues

This section highlights important aspects of the taxonomy, geography and so on, to improve the user's understanding of the information provided. Some issues are general, while others are specific and may be included as they arise from user concerns or the CoRMS update process. In such cases, the issues will be indicated alongside their publication date.

Only species that have been reported with their full name (genus and specific epithet) are included in CoRMS. Species recorded incompletely in scientific publications as "sp." or with taxonomic uncertainties, such as aff. (affinis) or cf. (confer), among others, are not included.

CoRMS includes only those records of species and their distribution in Colombia that have been reported in scientific articles and books or chapters published through a peer-review process. Grey literature, such as theses, technical documents, working papers and databases, is not considered when it comes to species. The same goes for species that are recorded in natural history collections but for which there is no supporting scientific publication. They are not included at the moment.
